A blessing, carried close.
Barkah means blessing. Its form is the cylinder amulet case, worn on a cord in Sudan since the kingdom of Kerma: a small sealed case carried close to the body. This one is filled with terracotta enamel and edged at both ends with diamonds. It threads onto the chain rather than hanging from it.
