A blessing, carried close.
Barkah means blessing. Its form is the cylinder amulet case, worn on a cord in Sudan since the kingdom of Kerma: a small sealed case carried close to the body. This one is filled with malachite-green enamel and edged at both ends with diamonds. It threads onto the chain rather than hanging from it.
